St. James' is a unique artist, with a unique voice, and an interesting
style. She is a true poet, and her poetry to music is a fresh new sound. Each time you listen, you
hear something new, the messages and the
metaphors are beautiful, even when they are at their darkest. Her 2004 release "What did I do?" the follow up album to her debut album "The
St. James Experience" is selling world-wide, Indie style as she continues
her grass roots effort to spreading her message of PeaceLoveUnityRespect
through music. Both albums were produced by Sony Music Writer/Producer
Bruce "Automatic" Vanderveer after a chance meeting with St.
James. It was the beauty and the raw reality of the truth in her poetry
that inspired him to write music together with St. James. She has been
blessed to sing together with such artists as Carole King, Paul Williams,
Al McKay of Earth, Wind, and Fire, and has shared her vocal stylings on
several Musical Soundtracks.
In her own words she says:
I'm a big fan of so many styles of music, so I
decided to create a fusion of sounds ranging from soul, rock, hip-hop and
R&B, calling it "Soulternative Street Music". I have a grass
roots outlook on life grounded in the subtlety of truth and human existence. I've
had a lot of pain in this lifetime, as most of us have. I've been loved, and
I've loved, I have struggled, and I have had many blessings, I have run and I
have embraced. My experience on this path is what I try to vividly express
through my words using this very unique voice I've been blessed to sing with. I've
always been the type to provoke an array of emotions in people who meet me, so
I try to do that with my musical audience. I do my best to translate my
emotions with raw expression so that my listeners can truly connect with me on
a level that is unique and true to myself. I'm
just a gypsy. I've never been able to stay in one place for too long. Most
of all I believe in the power of TRUTH and LOVE. I love people, I love learning
and observing. I'm in love with love. I feel loving is my destiny, and it took the pain
I've experienced that I share with you, on my 2003 debut release album
"The St. James Experience" to figure that out. Music has carried
me through my journey, I hope my music will carry you wherever you choose
to you let it take you.
