Make no mistake, Marshall Titus is a very talented artist. His debut album,"Titus Vol.1" is indeed proof of that. His voice is full of a passion for music, just like David Ruffin, Dennis Edwards and Ali Oli Woodson, the ex-lead singers of the Temptations. And he has a great ability to writie songs and produce. Everything he writes has brilliant composition, and is very dramatic and impressive.

The slow tunes, written and sung by him, are very lyrical, emotional and warm. He begins to sing gently and sexily, and gradually brings the listeners to his world which smolders with deep emotion.

The tunes with up/medium tempo have a daring rythm, which is filled with an articulate and energetic feeling. The house style, cool controlled beats harmonize with the heated vocals with his naked heart.

In his music, you'll be able to find a superb harmony of sound and feeling, and the spiritual vocals which never flatter the times. He can activively create a world of his own music, and invent a charm which attracts listeners.

"The Reality of Dreams Project" is his second album. The new CD contains nine self-written, performed and produced songs ( co-produced by Keith Henderson ) on his own Doc O Soc Entertainment Group label.

He says the following; " 'The Reality of Dreams Project' is a testament of faith. It is an expression of where my life is at right now. On many levels, it's about my inner journey and evolution as an artist, musician and spiritual man living in a world that is moving faster than ever before, all the while striving to stay true to myself and my vision."
"It deals with opening up to life and love, after feeling closed down and isolated. Belonging, holding on to, and letting go of those things and people that no longer work in our life. But above all else, it's about perserverance, courage and faith, having a vision and realizing it.
How would I describe this CD? I would have to say it's soulful, sensual, melodic, fluid, cinematic and timeless. Its influences are varied, and reflect my different tastes and moods. If anyone wants to get to know me, just listen to this CD."
"If music is the universal language, then I want to speak to the world".

Titus was born in Chicago and grew up listening to Gladys Knight & the Pips, Marvin Gaye and Prince. He started his music career in 1978, and began singing with some local bands. It is well-konwn that he performed with Byron Woods in the group, named "Brandi".

He did background vocal work on concerts and recording sessions with many artists in NY and Chicago. On the other hand, he widened his share of activities as a song writer.

His music career, over twenty years, has let us feel deep affection and passion. His music will shine over the times.

Interview with Marshall Titus...
-When were you born and where is your birthplace?
I have a birthday coming up next month....February 17th. ( 1958 )

-What did you grew up listening to?
When I was a little boy I first listened to my uncle Isaac play classical songs on the piano. Hearing the smooth and soothing voice of Nat King Cole . and then there was the Music of Mowtown, in particular Smokey Robinson....I was a huge fan of him.

-What is your musical background like?
My musical background began at home on the family piano, where both my sister and I would take piano lessons, except I would never practice. As a young boy I would sing in the childrens choir at my church, and continued singing in the church choir as I grew up. While in High School I sang in many different singing groups and bands, and started writting songs. One of the groups was Brandi, along with my friend Byron Woods who lived down the street from me.
Soon I started trying my hand at song writting, and in 1979 I collaberated on the song "Sweet Melodies" with writer James Mendall, which was recorded by Linda Clifford on her "Let Me Be Your Woman " album. That year I also begin singing T.V / Radio jingles, my first one was for Coca Cola.
Then came my experience in musical theater, shows like "The Wiz", with Stephanie Mills , "Dreamgirls", "Jesus Christ Superstar", "Five Guys Named Moe", to name just a few.

-Who has been your biggest inspiration in music?
I have so many musical inspirations. like I said earlier Smokey Robinson was my inspiration into soul music, but along the way I've had so many more from The Temptaions to Nat King Cole. I find inspiration from different artist for verious reasons. Stevie Wonder and Prince for their musical genius and songwriting, and as performers. I love Sade and Seal and what they bring forth. I find inspiration in so my artist, It would take too long to go on.

Have you ever had a memory in your career than you can't forget?
I've had many memorable moments in my career....My experience of doing the Hit T.V Show Star Search ( Male vocals champion ), the first time hearing my music played on the radio...I went to Lodon, England in 1990 for a big music festivale, and I remember walking into one of the rooms and they were playing my song "Don't Worry 'bout Me" , no one even knew I was there...I just happened to walk in as they were playing my song, that was a great experience.

-Please tell me your impressions about Chicago soul scene.
.I'm sorry to say that Chicago doesn't have a soul scene, not like it use to be. There are those who make and do what is considered soul music, but it is a very small roup of people, and we rarely get to find out who those people are. In my opinion, there is no real music scene in Chicago anymore, not a collective force that drives the music industry here

-I've really enjoyed listening to the album "The Longshot Sessions."
Please tell me your impressions about it.
I'm very honored and proud to be apart of the "Longshot Sessions" CD. Dick Fowler and Keith Stewart did a great job in creating a CD of wonderful soul music, which brought together and features many wonderfully talented singers and musicians. This is a CD of songs and music that so many people are missing and craving. It's a must have for anyone who loves soul music.
-Would you like to say something to them?
I thank Dick and Keith for asking me to be apart of their project, and giving me such a great song to sing, I'm in great company on this the "Longshot Sessions" CD
