The four members of SOUL TEMPO, Jerry Brunson, Tony Burnett, brothers Kevin and Phillip Mitchell, grew up together and the strong chemistry between them is reflected in their great sound and their on-stage charisma.
They all grew up in the same neighborhood and they went to the same elementary
school, middle school, high school and college together as voice majors. |
|
|
Things first started to coalesce for the foursome when they got the chance to audition for film producer/director Penny Marshall for her movie then in production. Ms. Marshall became an instant fan,
as she remains to this day, and SOUL TEMPO was given an on-camera singing
part in "The Preacher's Wife"(1996) with Whitney Houston and Denzel Washington.
They also worked with Joseph "Run" Simmons, one of the founding members of hip hop group Run-D.M.C., and released a compilation album "REV RUN Presents," (1995) on his gospel label Rev Run Records.
|
|
|
In 1998, they released a CD album "I Can't Wait" on Velvet Music. Immediately there was some interest at radio, including
airplay and phone response at premier urban station WHUR in Washington,
DC. But while the four were in key as a vocal group, they were not experienced
at being record company execs and pondered their next move.
After 5 years, they released a CD album "Charmed and Dangerous" on Music Avenue Records, featuring such tracks as "Too Hip Hop for The Room" and "Celebrate Our Love".
In 2005, with the release of "Rendezvous" on Music Avenue Records, Soul Tempo treated fans to more of their velvet
harmonies with the national club/dance hit "ST's House Remix" of "Swearin' To God", and the soulful "You'll Never Be Alone" ("Deep Version").
|
Soul Tempo recently performed in Washington, DC. at the Democratic debate with Mr. Tavis Smiley of PBS. The group also performed for and with Bishop TD Jakes and many more including Mr. Tom Joyner of the ABC Network, Barack Obama and Mrs. Hillary Clinton just to name a few.
| This Group looks forward to moving into high gear and big success. For
this intense high-harmony vocal group Soul Tempo, this appears to be perfect
timing. For Booking Info on Soul Tempo and Their schedule of Appearances:
