Sam Fallie, aka Mr Sam was born in Memphis, Tenn. on May 25th 1957. At an early age his family moved to Los Angeles, were he lived until the age of 10. Although he moved back to Memphis at the age of 10, he discovered his love of music while in LA.
In high school he joined the school choir and was voted most talented.
He was also offered a scholarship to Tougaloo Collede in Jackson, Miss.
in 1975. But Sam had other things in mind.
He and some of his friends formed a group called the Mellow Mistics, and
from there to the Naked Truth Band, both were short term. But The Perfectionist managed to last from 1980 - 1983.

|
|
| While with the Perfectionist he was discovered by Allen Jones, the Bar-Kays
legendary producer and manager, and was offered the positiion of staff
writer. At the time he was being compared to such writers as Homer Banks
and Lionel Richie. When Allen Jones died in 1988, Sam's music career was
put to a halt. He had a very hard time dealing with this tragic event.
|
After years out of the business Sam got back in touch with the Bar-Kays
and began to write again. Since he's been back he's written hits for several
of JEA/RIght Now Records recording artists.
For starters, Archie Love(Sincerly Yours), featuring "Should Have Been There For You" and "Same Woman"; J. Blackfoot (It Ain't Over) which features "I'm Just A Fool", this song
is also performed with Lenny Williams. Next came Lacee (The Songtress) with hits "You-Gon-Make Me" and "Heartacke".
These songs also played a big part in Lacee receiving, Best new Female
Artist for the year of 2006. The next artst is Mr. Loy Hughes, featuing hits like "Back to Back" and "Diamond Girl', with more come. Those were just a few of the albums that Sam played a big part in. Sam also wrote a single for Theodis Ealey called "Moved With The Motion" and Jerry L's new single "Girls In Tha Hood" and "Daily Love". |

| Interview with Mr. Sam... |
|
- Who did you grow up listening to while in LA?
Oddly enough I grew up listening to Elvis, James Brown, The Temptations
etc......
- What is your musical background like? My grandfather played trumpet on Beale with W C Handy, his name was Alex Sims
and my mother is a vocalist Mrs Myneta Garner.
- Who has been your biggest inspiration in music?
Michael Jackson because of his great skills as an artist as well as
writer, the ultimate entertainer.
- How did you hook up with Allen Jones?
Allen Jones came to see my group The Perfectionist perform at a local
club to see about signing us and at a later meeting heard some of my
original stuff and hired me as a writer.
- When did you start as a professional?
Even though I've been writing and entertaining for some years I claim 1996
as my start because thats when my first pro work was done "If It Takes
All Night" The Barkays.
-Please tell me about your new album LOOKING 4 LOVE (the
release is in mid May), the concept behind the idea and your impressions.
Well you hear a lot of artist say their
cd is different well you will be able to see
for yourself, its a mixture of my different sides and
my writing skills. It has southern soul, R&B,
Pop, and a gospel to wrap things up. I dont want
to be put into a specific catagory I just would like
to be known for great stories and good music.
- Are there any writers that influence/inspire you?
Yes Lionel Richie,Babyface,Stevie Wonder,Smokey,John Legend. Good hooks simple
but meaningful lyrics and of course great stories.
- Are there artists or producers you would like to collaborate with?
Timberland and Babyface tracks and I'd
like to write for Michael Jackson, Monica, Beyonce, Heather
Headly, Usher, everybody ha ha ha.
-What do you
think about US R&B scene and the music industry nowadays? The R&B scene has alot of youth but not a lot of song substance, not
as many classic singers like Luther, Gerald Levert etc.... Decent
songs but not the kind people are gonna remake in ten years. As far as the
industry in a nut shell bootleggers are killing it.
- Have you ever had a memory in your career than you can't forget? The first time I met the Jacksons and the first time I heard the crowd scream
for me.
- What really drives you or motivates you to continue to play music? What drives me is the fact that I have so much to say that the world has not
heard and I want to leave a legacy for my family as well as the world to
remember me by.
- Do you have any specific goals for the future? To get my music heard first and then to branch off into many different fields of
the industry.
- What is music for you?
My tell all, my link between me and you, my outlet to the world.
- Would you like to say something to your fans?
Yes I apologize for my late start but now that I'm here I'm here to stay, and
please listen to my whole cd theres something there for everybody, thanks
for your support.
And thanks to Soul Treasures.
