Emmett North Jr., a jazz/blues/soul guitarist, singer, songwriter and artist,
was born in Middletown, Ohio, between Cincinnati and Dayton. Later on the
family moved to Dayton, and he began to learn Blues, gospel and then jazz
in his youth.
While living in Dayton, he played and recorded gospel with The Wondering souls, The gospel Travelers and Zion Trumpeteers. They performed in many cities like Detroit, Chicago, Louisville, Memphis, Atlanta and other cities. He played behind The Different Shades of Brown from Springfield, Ohio.
He also had his own band at seventeen, called The Ohio Twisters. In 1974,
he was asked to play guitar with Heat Wave which he passed on it. After
moving to L.A. in 1975 to audition for Bobby Womack, he was told by his
PR Man that Barry White was also looking for a guitarist. He went to Barry
White's office and was sent to his rehearsal studio to meet the band for
audition. He successfully passed the audition. |

From 1975 to 1979, he toured America, Central America and Europe. He also
wrote songs for Barry and recorded on "Music Maestro Please.",
"Barry White sings for someone you love", "The Man"
and "Rhapsody in White", LP's. He wrote two songs for The Main
Ingredient, and also recorded and co-wrote some music for New Births' album
"Platinum City".
He moved to London in 1981 and toured there all around Britain. He also
performed and recorded with Jamaican singing group The Chosen Few. He recorded
a song called "'The Funkmasters'in 84" which went to No. 3 on
British Radio. |

He moved back to L.A. in 1985 and Barry White called him back for another
four years of touring in 1986.
He later went back to London and recorded his jazz/fusion album, "In
the Zone," in June 1995. In 1998, he toured Europe with The Atlantic
Soul Machine, a nine piece 60's/70's soul band that's been around for twenty
years. They recorded their album, called "Black, White & Blue"
in 1999. |

He released three CD albums in 2003, called 'Collective Series' of music
he has written, covered and recorded over the past twenty years between
LA. and London. He also released three EPs in 2003.

His music is fused with jazz, r&b, soul, dance and pop together, and
filled with deep attachment to various type of music. Among of his CDs,
"I'll Never Let You Go" and "Heart Of Stone" CDs are
very impressive for soul fans. His powerful vocals and 80's styled music
will capativate the "modern soul" fans in paricular .
