Curtis Walker, a former marine sergeant, was born in Savannah, Georgia. He has taken a serious endeavor into the world of Gospel and Christian music. Curtis brings with him an array of many styles of music such as, pop, R& B and contemporary all rolled up into one. Curtis is often compared to Ronald Isley of the Isley Brothers, Nick Ashford, former Motown artist, and Eddie Levert of the OJs and many others!

If you want to hear some very exciting, clean, finger-popping, toe tapping, make you feel good to your bones Gospel music, then listen to this new artist and the message that he has for your soul.

Curtis is asking that all Military Branches of the services and civilians purchase a copy of his CD and hopefully that will generate enough monies to donate to some worthy causes. Such as giving back to the poor through Oprahfs Angel network. Please understand that this is a gospel CD, but he could not complete this CD without singing something about the good workfs god has bestowed upon Oprah. So he wrote this song (We Love You Oprah) a tribute to her inspiring love for people all around the world.

Curtis Walker speaks for millions at home, and abroad that want to speak, but cannot speak for themselves. However, the CD is a positive and uplifting CD.

In conclusion Curtis would like for you to pay special attention to songs. We Love You Oprah, I Surrender, Ifll Be By Your side, Carry On, and the rest of the songs if you will. Curtis would like to express good health, and peace to you and all people around the world. Thank you God for keeping me and my family sound and well. Lord I could not have made it without you, and I ask and pray that you bless this CD.

Interview with Curtis Walker

- I'd like to ask you a little bit about your background first.
I was born November 28, 1953. My birth place is the beautiful Savannah, Georgia.

- What did you grow up listening to?
I grew up listening soul, gospel, rock, and jazz.  I especially loved James Brown, Otis Redding, Jerry Butler, Eddie Kendricks, Marvin Gaye, Smokey Robinson, Ashford and Simpson, The O-Jays, The Isley Brothers, The Dobie Brothers, The Chi-Lites, The Temptations, The Beatles, The Supremes, Aretha Franklin, Sam Cooke, B. B. King, and many others.

- What is your musical background like?
I started out, at the age of eight, singing in my Church's Junior choir. I was once a member of a local gospel group called The Gospeltears. I also in a Top-40 group. I still sing in my Church choir.

- Who has been your biggest inspiration in music?
I have been inspired by Smokey, James Brown and Eddie Kendricks, to name a few.

- When did you start as a professional?
Around 1979 with That's the Way the World Works.

- It was your first record, right?  Please tell me the story.
I came up with this title because it speaks to how some of my so called friends were only around me during the good times but failed as friends during the rough times. That tends to be how the world works.

- Your "I Wanna Be In Your Arms Tonight" is top quality soul in 80s. There are many modern soul fans/collectors who really love it, especially in UK and Japan
I am so thankful for that. That song is almost twenty years old and still sounds great today. A few years ago, I thought it needed to be updated with a more modern sound. Well, that did not go over well with my wife. She was so upset that I had changed the sound. Well, I eventually understood what she felt. Needless to say, I kept the song in its original format. If it ain't broke - don't fix it. :-)

- Please tell me your impressions about it.

This is one of my favorites. I was trying to tell the story of a person being in love and wanting to be with that person every day and night. Have you ever heard the expression - Your nose is so wide open  a Mac truck could drive through it? That means that you are so in love that you can barely function without that person in your life. That you belive you are soul mates and were meant for each other. That is what this song is about.

- Please tell me about your new album The Messenger, the concept behind the idea and your impressions.
I had not been singing or writing for several years. When I tried to write a love ballard I would always hit a brick wall. I would get frustrated and quit. Months later, I would try again, and again - no success. Then, one day I decided God was trying to tell me something. The words for the songs on my contemporary gospel CD The Messenger, came flowing out of me one day at work. I found myself having to be sure I always had paper and pen handy because the words would just come to me at any time - even while I tried to concentrate on my work. It seems that it was meant to be.

- Are there any singers that influence/inspire you?
In the gospel arena: The Williams Brothers, The Mighty Clouds of Joy, Bishop Morton, Lenny Williams, Harvey Watkins, Kirk Franklin, and Yolanda Adams, to name a few.

- Are there artists or producers you would like to collaborate with?
Artists: The Williams Brothers, Shaggy, Patty LaBelle, and Bobby Womack. As far as producers: Quincy Jones, Prince, Ashford and Simpson, Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis, and my local favorite, Sylvester Polk of Sanford, Florida.

- Have you ever had a memory in your career than you can't forget?
Yes. One night (in the 80's) when I sang on stage with the Chi-Lites, in Portsmouth, Virginia. They asked for people to come on stage and show their stuff. I took over the stage. I had folks screaming and clapping for me. They were on the tables and did not want be to stop. One of the Chi-Lites asked my why I was not doing this professionally.

- What really drives you or motivates you to continue to play music?
My love for music - all styles.

- Do you have any specific goals for the future?
I would love to see all of my songs become hits. whether I am singing them or, if another artist buys them from me and records them and make them a hit. I would love the recognition as a singer and a song writer.

- What is music for you?
It is a spiritual relaxation. It is my way of letting you know how I feel. The Messenger is my way of saying thank you to God for my life, my health and all of the other Blessings in my life.

- I've heard that you had been in Japan...
Yes. I was in the Marines and stationed in Okinawa, Japan. I was there from 1982 to 1983. I returned to the States for a short time and returned to Japan in 1989 and was there until 1990. I really loved the country and the people. I look forward to returning one day.

- Would you like to say something to your fans?
I would like to especially thank my fans in Japan and the United Kingdom for keeping my music alive for all of these years. Also, I ask that they continue to contact the radio stations and request that they play songs from The Messenger. Such as, Carry On, We Love You Oprah, I'll Be by Your Side (very soulful), Pick Me Up, and others.
