In 1955, Byron Woods, a very talented singer, songwriter, arranger and producer, was born in Chicago, Illinois.

He grew up listening and enjoying music, especially the Motown sound.

He started his music career in his high school days, and began singing with some local bands.
The Vandells, an all-male group molded into the Motown vocal tradition like the Temptations. One of the first songs they tried to make their own was The Younghearts' song, "I Got Love For My Baby." In 1972 he formed a vocal group called The Celestrials, consisted of Trina Foster, Pamela Batchman, Johnny Foster and Byron, and they won fourth place in talent contest.

From 1975 until 1977 he performed with a Chicago-based group called Heat. They consisted of Byron himself, Billy Hartfield, Anthony Dockery, Johnny Beard, Gail Pierce, and Julie Dominguez. Heat changed its name into Brandi and continued to perform up until 1981. Marshal Titus was a member of Brandi.

While performing with Brandi, in 1979, he performed with another group, called Onstage.
The members were Mike Logan, Larry kimpel, Dana Goodman, Marsha Miller, Willie Simmons, Thurman Morgan and Chippito Hardy.

In early 80s, Onstage released their first single for the Sock label titled "Who You Really Are"/"Hooked On Your Love". In 1984, they released "She's A Lady (Of The Night)". In 1986 and 1987, they released two singles on Omnibus. But in 1989 Onstage disbanded.

Marshall Titus introduced him to the UK record label, and in 1991 he released "I've Been In Love (But not Like this)/"You Don't Even Know" on Zing, and "Look To Me For Love/I've Been In Love (But Not Like This)" on Ardent.

In 1993 Omnibus Records shut down and regrouped and reopened in 1998. The company released 3 CDs, "Steppin/Hi Steppin" by Sherry Scott, a former member of Earth Wind and Fire, "Nice and Slow" by Mike Logan, a former member of Onstage and his partner, and "Work Of Art" by Byron himself.

Byron founded his group VocalPoynt. It's a quartet blending the voices of Woods, Diane Madison, Mae Koen and Dan Porter. The group released Christmas EP titled "Tis The Season" in 1997. The harmony with various styles from Jazz to R&B was similar to Manhattan Transfer.

In 2004, Byron released his full CD titled "In The Land Of Smooth" on UK record label Expansion. His beautiful vocals with wide range from natural tenor to sillky falsetto and deep attachment to music will move the listeners.
