Interview with Archie Love...
-When were you born and where is your birthplace?
11/23/59 in Chicago, Ill
-What did you grew up listening to?
Gospel and soul music
-What is your musical background like?
My career spans two decades of musical
experiences. I am a vocalist, writer, percussionist and producer.
-When did you start singing as a professional?
I started singing professionally in
1968, finished High School as a trumpet player and became a drummer a couple of
years after. And have always loved to sing, and was blessed enough for that to
be my life work.
-Who has been your biggest inspiration in music?
The Godfather of Soul... James
Brown.
-Have you ever had a memory in your career that you can't forget?
One of the more unforgettable highlights
of my career was the first time I performed for Berry Gordy on the Motown label on the Right Choice project.
-Please tell me your impressions about soul music scene in Memphis.
I think Memphis has one on the most educational and gratifying musical
Experiences that I have ever encountered in my career.
- You just released a new album called "Sincerely Yours" on JEA/Right
Now. Tell me more about it.
This is the first album of challenge as
far as my vocal ability, because I wanted something fresh, new, and soulful in
2005. And not forget where Soul Music really started.
-What are your future plan?
At this point, I have several different artists that I am collaborating
with such as Lacy Reed, Darrell Stanley of the Barkays, and my writing
protege¡Ç Mr. Sam Fallie. And we are currently working on a new Barkays
CD that is destine to be ¡ÈTha Bomb¡É. You can look for it early summer
2005. It features Jazzy Pha as one of the producers who happens to be the
son of the legendary leader of the Barkays, Mr. James Alexander, and one
of the top four producers in the country.
-Would you like to say something to your fans?
I would like to say I have enjoyed a lot
of years of happiness, success and comfort in knowing that my music is an
inspiration to my fans, and I sleep well knowing that my music helps you through
your day. So please keep on listening. |
